Licenses JetFax's Portable
Document Technology
Technology Partnership to Make Sending Faxes and E-mail
Messages Simpler and Easier than Ever
Tigard, Ore., September 8, 1998 -
FaxBack®,
Inc., a leading provider of NET SatisFAXtion fax server software and fax-on-demand
technology, today announced a product integration strategy based on a partnership with JetFax Inc., a leader in multifunction products (MFPs) that combine print, fax, copy, and
scan capabilities.
Under the terms of the agreement, FaxBack has licensed
JetFax's portable document technology, which will be incorporated into an upcoming NET
SatisFAXtion server software release as well as into gateway software built for AT&T's
WorldNet Enhanced Fax and Messaging Service. FaxBack has been developing gateway software
for AT&T's e-mail and fax services for the past ten years. In addition, FaxBack and
JetFax will also work to integrate the JetFax multifunction M900 Series product line into
both the software and the service. This will be the first integration of an MFP with a fax
server and a fax service.
"FaxBack and JetFax have pooled resources to shape the
future of fax and e-mail-to-fax messaging," said Jim Mueller, executive vice
president at FaxBack, Inc. "By integrating JetFax's powerful portable document format
with our fax server software, we're delivering on our commitment to provide customers with
even more options for sending, receiving and viewing fax and e-mail messages. Finally,
it's like WYSIWYG for e-mail, 'what you send is what they see!"
"FaxBack's messaging software and JetFax's technology
are highly complementary," said Rudy Prince, CEO at JetFax Inc. "We are
extremely pleased that FaxBack is utilizing our technology and feel the combination will
greatly improve the productivity of end users in the marketplace."
Using JetFax's portable document technology, users will be
able to send any document, file or image via e-mail or fax without worrying about how it
will appear at the receiving device. An exact replication of the document will be
reproduced in a fax image or as an e-mail attachment (e-mail messages are accompanied with
an embedded viewer). This approach provides users with 100% confidence that the documents
they are sending will appear exactly as the sender intended.
