FaxBack's Flagship Fax-on-Demand Technology to Provide
Taxpayers with Immediate Delivery of Tax Information
Fax Leader Supplies the IRS with the World's Largest
Fax-on-Demand System
TIGARD, Ore. - June 26,
2000 - FaxBack® Inc., the world market leader in FaxBack
brand fax-on-demand technology, today announced that the IRS
has successfully implemented a FaxBack system to provide a
state-of-the-art information delivery system for millions of
taxpayers across the country. Known appropriately as "IRS
TaxFax," the system allows taxpayers to call from any fax
machine, listen to a series of voice-recorded menus, and
request tax forms, schedules and instructions for the prior
tax year to have them instantly transmitted to a caller's fax
machine. The phone number for IRS TaxFax is (703) 368-9694.
The IRS' TaxFax system is the
world's largest fax-on-demand application with the ability to
handle 45,000 calls per day during tax season. The automated
system enables the IRS to respond rapidly to the deluge of
requests for tax forms without the need to increase staff
resources. Between December 1999 and April 30, 2000 the TaxFax
system handled nearly 1.7 million calls and faxed nearly 3
million pages. The system's overall success rate was nearly
97%.
"The numbers speak for
themselves," said Kim Harris, Program Manager at National
Technical Information Service which provides technical
services to the IRS. "The FaxBack solution is an integral
part of the IRS communications system. With so many millions
of fax machines installed in the U.S., FaxBack has provided
another path for us to reach hundreds of thousands of
taxpayers every year. "
"Industry leading
organizations continue to turn to FaxBack for our superior
fax-on-demand technology," said Jim Mueller, president at
FaxBack. "We are thrilled that the IRS has joined the
growing list of organizations that use our technology. There
is no better testament to our products and services than the
customers that choose FaxBack."
"TaxFax shows that
traditional faxing is far and away the leading method of
electronically delivering tax forms," notes Peter
Davidson, president of Davidson Consulting and an industry
analyst specializing in the convergence of messaging.
"Fax is simple, universal and keeps tax form formatting
intact by delivering exact facsimiles of the forms. It lets
people use their brain power to fill out the forms rather than
engineer the e-mail delivery of tax forms in such a way that
recipients know the integrity of the e-form has not in some
way been distorted."
